Report: Bears RB Khalil Herbert (ankle) out multiple weeks

Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert is expected to miss multiple weeks due to an ankle injury, NFL Network reported Sunday.

NFL Network also reported the Bears are signing Darrynton Evans off Miami's practice squad with fellow running backs Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer also nursing injuries.

Herbert sustained his injury during Chicago's 40-20 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday. He rushed for 76 yards on 10 carries prior to the injury.

Herbert, 25, has team-leading totals in carries (51) and rushing yards (272) in five games this season for the Bears (1-4), who host the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday.

He has rushed for 1,436 yards and six touchdowns and added 33 catches for 236 yards and two scores in 35 career games with Chicago. He was selected by the Bears in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Evans, 25, had 14 carries for 64 yards in six games with Chicago last season.

He has rushed 30 times for 125 yards and added five catches for 71 yards and a touchdown in 12 career games with the Tennessee Titans and Bears. He was selected by the Titans in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
