Ravens Named Potential Trade Fit For Former 1,000-Yard Receiver
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

If we learned anything from the Baltimore Ravens‘ loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, it’s that they need some more weapons on offense.

They particularly need some more targets for Lamar Jackson.

That’s why Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox has listed the Ravens as a potential trade fit for Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

The Cowboys acquired Cooks in a trade with the Houston Texans last offseason with the expectation that he would be a capable No. 2 receiver behind CeeDee Lamb.

While Cooks certainly wasn’t terrible in his debut campaign in Dallas, he wasn’t great, either, logging just 54 catches for 657 yards and eight touchdowns.

Cooks has one year remaining on his deal and is slated to make $8 million next season. With the Cowboys being $4 million over the salary cap, trading him is definitely an option.

Outside of Zay Flowers, Baltimore does not have a whole lot at the wide receiver position. Odell Beckham Jr. is hitting free agency this month, and Rashod Bateman is entering bust territory.

Cooks may not be the same 1,000-yard guy he was several years ago, but he would still represent a better option than what the Ravens currently have on their roster behind Flowers.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Oregon State, was originally selected by the New Orleans Saints with the 20th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Cooks has been rather well-traveled, spending time with five teams since entering the league. He posted over 1,000 yards in six of his first eight seasons, topping out at 1,204 yards while with the Los Angeles Rams in 2018.

The Stockton, Ca. native last hit the 1,000-yard mark in 2021, when he caught 90 passes for 1,037 yards and six scores with the Texans.

We’ll see if Baltimore makes a play for Cooks this offseason.
