Ravens Free Agency: Steelers Release Pro Bowl S Keanu Neal; Baltimore Bound?

The Baltimore Ravens could be in the market for a safety this offseason, and now a familiar face could be available.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released safety Keanu Neal with a failed physical designation the team announced on Thursday. The release of the former Pro Bowler frees up $2.25 million in cap space and $460,000 in dead money.

The 28-year-old Florida Gator was a first-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in the 2016 NFL Draft. Neal signed a one-year, $5 million with the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 after former Falcons coach Dan Quinn joined Dallas as defensive coordinator.

In 2022, Neal signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and then Pittsburgh signed him to a two-year, $4.25 million deal last offseason.

Neal played in nine games for Pittsburgh in 2023 and registered 50 tackles with one for loss, one interception and one fumble recovery. He missed the final nine games of the season with a rib injury.

In 2017 Neal made his only Pro Bowl after starting all 16 games for the Falcons and recording 116 tackles with 83 solo and four for loss, two fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, and one interception.
