Ravens defense takes a hit with latest Marlon Humphrey injury update

Marlon Humphrey was sidelined from the Baltimore Ravens’ practice session on Wednesday.

The Ravens practiced outdoors on Wednesday, and Humphrey did not take the field with the rest of the team.

Humphrey has been out of action since suffering a calf injury during the first half of Baltimore’s home win over the Miami Dolphins. He spent the remainder of the opening half on the sideline testing out his calf, but the Ravens ultimately decided to rule him out for the entirety of the second half.

Humphrey did not take part in any of Baltimore’s three practice sessions ahead of its home matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he was later ruled out from the divisional contest. The veteran cornerback also was not cleared to feature in any of the Ravens’ practices during their recent bye week.

Humphrey has a history of calf injuries. For one, the three-time Pro Bowler missed two games due to a non-contact calf ailment sustained during the Ravens’ home loss to the Cleveland Browns in November.

It will be noteworthy to see whether Humphrey will receive the green light to practice on Thursday.

The Ravens are looking to pick up a win over the Houston Texans to clinch a spot in the AFC title game for the first time since the 2012 season.
