Raiders taking another look at former Pro Bowl CB

The Las Vegas Raiders are not giving up on the idea of signing free-agent cornerback Marcus Peters.

After bringing the former Pro Bowler in for a visit earlier this offseason, the Raiders are again bringing him in for a visit and a workout on Monday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Peters, 30, is one of the top remaining free agents still unsigned and could be a nice lift for a Raiders secondary that desperately needs help.

He appeared in 13 games for the Baltimore Ravens during the 2022 season, intercepting one pass.

At his best Peters was one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, appearing in three Pro Bowls and twice being named a First-Team All-Pro. He has intercepted 32 passes in his career with the Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams.

If the Raiders are expecting him to make that sort of impact at this point in his career they are probably going to be severely disappointed, but he should still have something left in the tank to help upgrade a Raiders defense that allowed more than 240 passing yards per game a year ago. That number placed them 28th in the entire NFL, while they intercepted just six total passes. Only two of those interceptions (both by Amik Robertson) belonged to a cornerback.

Given the Raiders' need for secondary help, as well as the fact this is the second time they have brought him in for a visit before training camp, there is a very good chance that he ends up with a contract if he shows he still has something left in the tank.
