Post-waiver wire fantasy football pickups for Week 13

Let the other guys Pat (Freiermuth) themselves on the back for getting the top waiver claims. We have players you’ll absolutely (Jordan) Love.

QB: Jordan Love (Green Bay Packers)

Despite our passionate and well-reasoned recommendation for Love in Week 3, he’s still available in many leagues. Love’s Packers have won two straight games thanks to the improved play of their third-year quarterback.

Love had three touchdowns for the third time this season against the Lions on Thanksgiving after throwing for a season-high 322 yards against the Chargers the week before. His 26.62 fantasy points were sixth-most among quarterbacks last week and his 208.06 points for the season are ninth-most at the position.

The Chiefs defense is tough, but the Packers will need to throw the ball to keep up with Kansas City’s offense. More importantly, with the Giants, Buccaneers and Panthers to follow, Love could have the easiest playoff schedule in fantasy football.

Love is available in 40% of Yahoo! leagues.

RB: Samaje Perine (Tennessee Titans)

You may know him as “bleeping” Samaje Perine if you’re a Javonte Williams owner. Perine vultured a touchdown from Williams against the Browns last week and seems to have reclaimed the No. 2 running back spot from rookie Jaleel McLaughlin.

Perine had a single carry for seven yards the week before, but caught all seven of his targets for 60 yards. While Williams is clearly the Broncos’ lead back, Perine’s versatility and experience will be an asset for a Denver team trying to make a playoff run after a disastrous start to the season.

Perine is available in 71% of Yahoo! leagues.

WR: Christian Watson (Green Bay Packers)

Since you’re already adding Love at quarterback, why not add his No. 1 target from a week ago? Watson hasn’t had the year most expected, but his performance against the Lions was a positive sign.

Watson had a season-high five catches for 94 yards thanks to a 53-yard reception to start the game and a diving touchdown grab in the third quarter. The score was Watson’s second in as many weeks and like Love, he could do some real damage with Green Bay’s remaining schedule.

Watson is available in 34% of Yahoo! leagues.

TE: Gerald Everett (L.A. Chargers)

After being held without a catch in Week 10 and missing Week 11 with a chest injury, the seventh-year tight end scored the team’s only touchdown against Baltimore and even celebrated the occasion by impersonating Hall of Famer Raven Ray Lewis.

Everett’s 14.30 fantasy points were sixth-most for a tight end in Week 12 and he’ll face a Denver defense giving up the most points to the position in Week 14.

Everett is available in 70% of Yahoo! leagues.

DST: Jacksonville Jaguars

The Tampa and Jacksonville defenses are projected to lead this week’s fantasy scoring with 8.09 points each, but the Jaguars unit is more available. Jacksonville had four sacks on C.J. Stroud in a 24-21 loss to Houston last week and should have an easier time against the Bengals.

For the second week in a row, Cincinnati will start undrafted free agent Jake Browning at quarterback.  Pittsburgh sacked him four times in Week 12 and Jacksonville should do the same this Sunday.

The Jaguars defense is available in 45% of Yahoo! leagues.

K: Brandon McManus (Jacksonville Jaguars)

McManus’ 14.00 fantasy points were second-most among kickers last week and he trails only Cleveland’s Dustin Hopkins with 111.00 fantasy points for the year. The Bengals give up the ninth-most points to fantasy kickers and now that Denver is good again, McManus is a great find this late in the year.

McManus is available in 44% of Yahoo! leagues.
