Monday, the Carolina Panthers signed veteran free agent linebacker Deion Jones alongside defensive end Nick Thurman, a former undrafted free agent who has played in eight career games in the NFL.
To get the roster down to 90, the Panthers had to cut ties with two players, and Tuesday morning, those moves were announced. Carolina waived defensive lineman John Penisini and linebacker Arron Mosby.
Penisini was waived with a failed physical designation. He has been battling an undisclosed injury since OTAs and has been unable to participate in on-field team activities. Penisini actually retired due to injuries after the 2021 season.
As for Mosby, he spent much of his rookie season on the practice squad but did appear in three games, most of which were on special teams.
