One big question Texans GM Nick Caserio must ask himself prepping for the 2024 offseason
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Texans made a bigger jump from 2022 to 2023 than most thought they would. We knew there would be some bumps along the way, all things considered, but how many people thought the Texans would win a playoff game this season?

With a rookie head coach, a rookie quarterback, and a rookie offensive coordinator, the Texans were able to go from a three-win team to a 10-win team with a playoff win over the Cleveland Browns. In that playoff win, they beat down the Browns. In their next game against the Baltimore Ravens, they had the game within reach at halftime.

Really, they weren't far from getting into the AFC Championship Game when you think about it. But that doesn't mean they will automatically get into it next season. There is work to be done, and the team has to improve their roster all around. That's what the offseason is for. That's what free agency and the draft is for.

Before they get into any of that, there was one big question Nick Caserio should have asked himself before he got started.

Texans' Nick Caserio should have asked himself one big question

It's pretty clear who runs not only the AFC but also the NFL right now. It's the Kansas City Chiefs, as they are officially a dynasty. They are a team that it's pretty clear will be competing for a Super Bowl as long as Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are there. That is the team to beat.

So, the question Caserio needs to ask himself is what he needs to do with his team to make them a team that can compete with the Chiefs. That's who everyone is chasing, and it's no secret. The Texans have to make sure they are putting themselves in the best position to reach the Chiefs, as cliche as that sounds.

Luckily, the Texans already have their quarterback situation sorted out because that will likely be the one thing they can rely on the most.
