NFL.com Reveals Who The Colts Should Target In NFL Draft
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

As the 2024 NFL Draft looms just around the corner, all eyes are on the Indianapolis Colts as they strategize for every possible scenario.

With multiple positional needs to address both for the present and the future, the Colts are gearing up for a pivotal draft.

Currently armed with seven picks, the Colts are particularly focused on the first and second rounds, where they aim to make impactful selections.

NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter recently shared his insights on the ideal top two picks for each team, proposing candidates for both offense and defense.

On the defensive front, Reuter suggests Alabama standout Terrion Arnold as a prime candidate for the Colts.

“Arnold’s a fiery competitor who made plays all over the field for Alabama. He could focus on stopping outside receivers, with Kenny Moore II returning to the Colts to man the slot, though the rookie could handle those duties if needed, as well. Arnold’s 4.5 40 speed at the NFL Scouting Combine didn’t impress, but his excellent pro day cemented his top-20 status.”

With the need for bolstering their cornerback position, Indianapolis appears poised to target dynamic prospects like Arnold. His impressive performance during the 2023 season showcased his potential as a day-one starter for the Colts.

Arnold’s statistics from 2023 underscore his prowess on the field, with notable marks from Pro Football Focus including an overall rating of 88.4, a stellar 90.6 in run defense, and an impressive 84.9 in coverage.

Throughout his tenure at Alabama, Arnold amassed an impressive record, tallying 108 tackles, including 7.5 for loss, six interceptions, with five coming in the 2023 season alone, and 20 passes defended. Should the Colts opt for Arnold in the first round, he is poised to join forces with fellow cornerback JuJu Brents, solidifying the team’s defensive backfield.

Given the pressing need for talent at cornerback, securing a player of Arnold’s caliber represents a significant step forward for the Colts, addressing a critical area of concern outside of their wide receiver corps.

It will be interesting to see what Chris Ballard and the Colts actually end up doing in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
