NFL Insider Says Fitterer's Future in Carolina 'Remains Up in the Air'
USA TODAY Sports

Frank Reich was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Carolina Panthers last Monday, along with running backs coach Duce Staley and quarterbacks coach Josh McCown. Misery loves company and there's no telling if that group will grow larger a little over a month from now. That uncertainty includes general manager Scott Fitterer.

"It also remains uncertain who will help guide Tepper," said Adam Schefter of ESPN. "The Panthers haven't given general manager Scott Fitterer any assurances that he will be retained, league sources said, though Carolina has intimated to some around the NFL that it would like to keep Fitterer. Even so, league sources believe Fitterer's future remains up in the air."

Tepper has never had complete and total alignment with his head coach and GM since he purchased the team in 2018. He fired Ron Rivera and kept Marty Hurney in '18. He hired Matt Rhule as head coach and fired Hurney in 2020. He hired Scott Fitterer and kept Rhule. He then fired Rhule and kept Fitterer and of course, just fired Frank Reich, the first coach Fitterer helped pick.
