NFL futures: Let's overreact to the NFL Draft with three futures bets

The first round of the NFL Draft is in the books, and the only thing to do is overreact to what happened and look to the futures market, right?
Three NFC teams caught our eye on Thursday, some good and some bad.

Chicago Bears to win NFC North (+370 FanDuel)

Caleb Williams is walking into one of the better situations we've seen for a top overall QB pick in quite some time.

Chicago ended last season on a pretty solid note, headlined by what has quickly become one of the NFL's better defenses.

Then the Bears went out and added Keenan Allen to pair with DJ Moore, and then they used the No. 9 pick on WR Rome Odunze, who by all accounts seems primed to be a star wide receiver.

Expect the Bears to address the OL over the weekend, and we're excited about the Bears prospects this season.

Chicago is currently -125 to make the playoffs, so we turn here instead in what would obviously be quite a surprise in jumping both Detroit and Green Bay.

Atlanta Falcons to not make the playoffs (+240 DraftKings)

What in the world are the Atlanta Falcons doing? You give Kirk Cousins $100 million guaranteed this offseason, and then you draft a 24-year old Michael Penix Jr. at No. 8 overall?

The allure of signing a guy like Cousins is it gives you a window to be competitive right now in what is a very weak NFC South.

The drafting of Penix, who in Atlanta's best case scenario isn't seeing the field until he's 27, is a head-scratcher. The win-now window means that at number eight, you'd ideally be spending premium resources on a guy who can produce for you right now.

This move was predictably lambasted throughout the night, and I still can't fathom what the Falcons are doing.

As such, a fade on their entire season seems appropriate.

Ricky Pearsall wins Offensive Rookie of the Year (+4000 DraftKings)

Ricky Pearsall may have been a surprise name at the tail-end of the first round last night, but we've been enamored with his professional prospects for quite some time. Pearsall seems to possess elite body control, route-running, and he's a physical player from the slot.

San Francisco adding him indicates that where there's smoke there's fire. It seems likely that Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk is traded today, and if that is the case, Pearsall would immediately vault into a high-volume situation on one of the NFL's best teams.

We said we were going to overreact, didn't we? At 40-1, we'll sprinkle some coffee money on the Florida WR breaking out.
