NFL draft expert names 2 cornerbacks Eagles could trade up for
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

It's been over a decade since the Philadelphia Eagles drafted a cornerback in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft but that long drought could end this year.

Since the Eagles desperately need a cornerback to immediately boost their secondary, NFL expert Daniel Jeremiah said he wouldn't be surprised to see general manager Howie Roseman get aggressive and trade up for either of the draft's top two corners.

" I never sleep on Howie Roseman as a potential to go north or south," Jeremiah said, via the Philly Voice . "I always keep an eye on them. I think they have a pretty obvious need there at corner. You have somebody like Terrion Arnold or even Quinyon Mitchell, if either of those guys start to drift a little bit, I wouldn't sleep at all on the Eagles being an aggressive team and going up there and trying to get one of those corners."

The Eagles have done their homework on Arnold and recently hosted him for a top-30 visit.

The Crimson Tide product is fresh off a 2023 season where he was named first-team All-American honors after logging 63 tackles, 5 interceptions, a sack, and one forced fumble

Daniel is a fan of how smoothly Arnold operates on the field and how well he mirrors wide receivers.

As for Mitchell, his draft stock spiked at the Reese's Senior Bowl and then he raised it even higher at the NFL Combine after running a 4.33 40-yard dash.

It's unclear if the Eagles have met with Mitchell, but during the Senior Bowl he told reporters that he models his game after cornerback Darius Slay and wants to meet him.

Mitchell left Toledo after racking up 123 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one sack, 45 passes defended, and six interceptions in three seasons. 37 of his pass breakups came in his final two years with the Rockets.

Both of these corners are elite and likely better than what could be available for the Eagles at No. 22.

We'll see what happens when Round 1 of the draft officially kicks off next Thursday.
