NFL Draft bets: AFC North betting odds for each team's first pick

The next division on the docket for our NFL draft futures study is the AFC North. The AFC North produced three playoff teams last season, and the one team that missed it may be the best of the bunch, with Cincinnati set to get back on track with a healthy Joe Burrow in 2024.

The betting markets sure expect the AFC North to add some offensive line talent at the top of this year's drafts, with three teams having OL as a heavy betting favorite to be their first pick. We'd prefer some plus-money when we can, so it seems we'll need to dig into each of these teams a bit deeper.

Note: not every team is offered in this market. For example, teams like Chicago and Washington at the top of the board are widely expected to draft QBs, and as such, there is no market for these teams.

Position of 1st Drafted Player: AFC North edition

Baltimore Ravens

The favorites:

  • Offensive Lineman (-200)
  • Defensive Line/EDGE (+350)
  • Wide Receiver (+450)

Offensive lineman is the deserved favorite here for Baltimore, who currently own the No. 30 pick in this month's first round. The Ravens have a hole at tackle and along their interior offensive line, and success in the NFL of course starts in the trenches.

We feel quite confident that's where Baltimore goes, but -200 just isn't going to work for us as we turn over stones for value.

Instead, we turn to wide receiver at +450. The Ravens will bring back a pair of young WRs who should only get better in Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, but Odell Beckham is not returning and Nelson Agholor is hardly a world-beating third option.

Giving Lamar Jackson more and more weapons certainly couldn't hurt, and if it's not OL, the tail end of the first round seems like a good spot for a run of WRs to go, with Buffalo and Kansas City on either end of the Ravens.

Our choice: Wide Receiver (+450)

Pittsburgh Steelers

The favorites:

  • Offensive Lineman (-215)
  • Wide Receiver (+300)
  • Cornerback (+380)

Pittsburgh is in a very similar spot to Baltimore here, as they too desperately need some new starting offensive linemen, and have simply not addressed that need at all in free agency.

Once again, the price here on such a position being Pittsburgh's first pick does not excite much, though we do think it's a near certainty at No. 20. Interior OL prospect Jackson Power-Johnson has been a popular mock draft pick for the Steelers here, as they currently have no starting center on their roster.

We're forced to acknowledge the likelihood of offensive line, but will run with the same approach we had above and hope we can hit on one.

Whether it's Russell Wilson or Justin Fields at QB this year for the Steelers, Pittsburgh badly needs some WR additions, with their current top WRs being George Pickens, Calvin Austin and Van Jefferson.

Perhaps Pittsburgh thinks they can find some OL gems on Day Two and opts to take a player they believe can grow into a true WR1 to start their draft off.

Our choice: Wide Receiver (+300)

Cincinnati Bengals

The favorites:

  • Offensive Lineman (-200)
  • Wide Receiver (+400)
  • Defensive line/EDGE (+425)

It's Groundhog Day as we continue analyzing AFC North teams here, with Cincy priced at -200 to go OL with their first pick. We get it, they have a potential long-term need at OT, and protecting Joe Burrow is priority one moving forward.

We'll stay in the trenches and instead recommend a sprinkle on the Bengals going defensive line with their first selection. Most mocks and blogs acknowledge a DT or another pass-rusher makes a lot of sense for the Bengals, and in a potentially deep OL draft, the Bengals may opt to invest some second or third round picks on that side of the football.

Our choice: Defensive line/EDGE (+425)

Cleveland Browns

The favorites:

  • Defensive line/EDGE (+150)
  • Offensive Lineman (+275)
  • Cornerback (+400)

Due to the Deshaun Watson trade, Cleveland does not own a first-round pick, with their first pick currently slotted at No. 54 in the second round.

That makes a bet here a bit trickier, as a whole lot is going to be off the board by the time the Browns are on the clock.

Cleveland has one of the more complete teams in the NFL, save for quarterback. They have an elite offensive line and defense, and with the addition of Jerry Jeudy and the return of Nick Chubb, it seems unlikely that skill positions get addressed at the top of the board.

We'll opt for a bit of a luxury pick and roll with the favorite on the betting board with the DL. Their defensive line is strong and led by 2023 Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett. With everyone getting older, Cleveland could be in a good position to add a talented piece that can work into a rotation and develop into a key cog down the line.

Our choice: Defensive line/EDGE (+150)
