NBA world reacts to Patrick Mahomes winning his third Super Bowl

There's a reason the only two scheduled NBA games on Sunday were matinee affairs. The league was kind (and wise) enough to allow its players to enjoy the Super Bowl festivities along with their families, and to the delight of hoopers and football fans everywhere, the big game delivered.

While the likes of LeBron James and Draymond Green were spotted in a suite at Allegiant Stadium watching the Chiefs do battle with the 49ers, several of their peers actively tweeted their reactions throughout the game. After Patrick Mahomes captured his third Super Bowl MVP, a lot of NBA players --both past and present -- echoed the post-game sentiments of Travis Kelce, who referred to his quarterback teammate as "the best football player we've ever seen."

Five-time NBA champion Magic Johnson wrote, "Patrick Mahomes worked his late-game magic once again to seal a 25-22 Super Bowl overtime win over the 49ers! Back-to-back wins for the Chiefs and he earned his third MVP award…WOW!"

Luka Doncic tweeted a GOAT emoji while tagging Mahomes, making his feelings clear about the Chiefs star. C.J. McCollum, too, posted a GOAT emoji to show his appreciation for Mahomes.

Damian Lillard, meanwhile, posted a flushed face emoji as he most likely couldn't believe the turn of events Sunday night as the Chiefs rallied back from a double-digit deficit.

Bulls guard Alex Caruso wrote, "Mahomes Legacy driivveeee" in response to Mahomes' 64-yard drive that concluded with a Harrison Butker 29-yard field goal to push the game into overtime.

Among others who reacted, Jordan Clarkson wrote, "Mahomes. Goat form," Kendrick Perkins tweeted, "Mf Mahomes" and Patrick Beverley wrote, "Great game." Victor Oladipo thanked his football counterparts with a, "We were definitely entertained" acknowledgement message.

Finally, Tyrese Haliburton seemed to enjoy the game but wasn't thrilled with the quality of the Super Bowl commercials
