Missing former NFL player Sergio Brown reportedly surfaces in Mexico

Former NFL player Sergio Brown has reportedly surfaced in Mexico after his family reported him missing this week. Myrtle Brown, the former safety’s mother, was found dead on Saturday.

Police located the body of Myrtle Brown, 73, near a creek outside her home in suburban Chicago. Authorities were called when friends and family were unable to contact Myrtle or Sergio. According to CNN, the cause of death was ruled a homicide.

On Monday, a video surfaced on Instagram of Brown tagged with a location of Mexico City before being deleted. In the video, the former Bills player went on a rant during which he claims he believed his mom was “on vacation.”

“Fake news…Fake news…Fake news,” Brown said, tagging ESPN. “It has to be the FBI that came into my house on Bob Marley’s death day with the 511 haze and gas unwarranted. They kidnapped me twice from home – the Maywood Police Department. 

“It had to be the FBI or the Maywood police,” he said. “I thought my f---in’ momma was on vacation.”

Brown posted the video to an Instagram account named @intplayerwithapassport, not his verified personal account.

Family members ring alarm over Brown’s disappearance

“My brother Sergio is still missing,” Nick Brown wrote on Instagram on Monday. “If anyone knows where he is I want him to know that I love you and please come home.”

Sergio Brown played in the NFL from 2010-16. He was a member of the New England Patriots (2010-11), Indianapolis Colts (2012-14), Jacksonville Jaguars (2015) and Buffalo Bills (2016). He was credited with 144 tackles in his professional career.

Prior to playing in the NFL, he attended Notre Dame.

“It’s a sad but hopeful time, and we will all get through this together,” Nick Brown wrote. “Mom always told me, ‘tough times don’t last’ and our last conversation about tough times being temporary is my beacon of hope. Mom, thank you for being strong, caring, diligent, fancy, funny, and for saving my art. I won’t let you down.”

The investigation into Myrtle Brown’s homicide is ongoing.
