Minkah Fitzpatrick Breaks Hand in Steelers Loss
USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers secondary nearly lost their biggest start the same week he returned from another injury after safety Minkah Fitzpatrick broke his hand during the team's Week 13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Fitzpatrick returned from a hamstring injury this week, marking his first return in five games. During the second quarter, Fitzpatrick went to punch the ball out of an opponent's hands and broke a bone in the process.

The Steelers put a cast on Fitzpatrick's hand during halftime and he was able to return after the break. Speaking with reporters after the game, he said he'll be fine and ready to play in Week 14 against the New England Patriots, even with a short week ahead for Pittsburgh.

"I'll be fine. I'll probably just wrap it up, club it up like we did today. Keep it moving," Fitzpatrick said.

The Steelers are already dealing with a number of injuries on both sides of the ball, leaving Week 13. Quarterback Kenny Pickett (ankle), guard Isaac Seumalo (shoulder) and inside linebacker Elandon Roberts (groin) all left against the Cardinals and will be monitored closely throughout the week to see if they can return in time for Thursday night's game.
