Mike Greenberg continues campaign for the Jets to trade for Kirk Cousins

Perhaps the Netflix series, "Quarterback," made Greenberg an even bigger fan of Cousins that ever before, but this rant feels less about the Vikings starter and more about Jets signal caller Zach Wilson. In place of Aaron Rodgers - who says he will push to return this season - the former number three overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft was going to have problems against one of the NFL's premier defenses in the Dallas Cowboys. Wilson's numbers certainly didn't inspire confidence from the Jets' faithful after their miraculous season-opening win, completing just 12 of his 27 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

Ironically, this is the very same Kirk Cousins who Greenberg lambasted nearly six weeks ago. To be accurate, Greenberg lambasted Cousins' place above Rodgers on the NFL's Top 100 players list released during the preseason.

Considering that Greeny started Monday's rant by saying Wilson isn't even an NFL quarterback, what he thought about Cousins in August sounds far more polite than how he treated the former UNC product.

 One can assume that Greenberg would be high on Cousins because he's a free agent after this season. Though Rodgers is a significant cap hit for the Jets, a proposed deal for a former NFC North rival would be an expensive, but manageable flyer due to the team's cap space. Cousins will make $35 million after agreeing to a one-year extension in 2022 as his original deal with Minnesota was due to expire at the time.

 
Cousins himself had a mostly solid day at the office on Sunday in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, going 31-for-44 on 364 yards passing and four touchdown passes. However, he lost a fumble on the Vikings' own 18-yard line, leading to a Jalen Hurts touchdown.
