Micah Parsons did the right thing by ditching Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe on 'Undisputed'

Micah Parsons, star pass-rusher of the Dallas Cowboys, stood up controversial television host Skip Bayless and his partner, Shannon Sharpe on Tuesday.

Parsons was supposed to join the two on their daily sports talk show, "Undisputed", but he was apparently a no-show despite apparently signing up to appear weekly in a season-long segment with the two.

Notably, the segment was two days after the Cowboys blew their season opener, 19-3, to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football. It was also in the wake of the news that quarterback Dak Prescott would miss a chunk of games due to a hand injury.

“We had equipment installed in Micah’s home in the Dallas area, and when we made the big, grand announcement he immediately tweeted about how excited he was to join us,” Bayless said after the no-show, according to the New York Post. “Then yesterday came and all day we couldn’t reach Micah. Then, as it got to be evening, we couldn’t even reach any of his people.

“So, it led us to believe maybe he was just crushed by the opening night loss, which is highly possible. We are still extremely hopeful that he will join us next Tuesday.”

Bayless did throw a little bit of shade at Parsons, but as it turns out the absence was because of the loss. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, though, the star pass rusher explained that he felt an obligation to the team to stay off television in the wake of such a tough loss.

“I didn’t think it was appropriate to be on the show at that point. We just lost our starting QB," Parsons said, according to Patrik Walker. “… I think I need to be a leader now and that’s not on TV.”

If that was truly the case Parsons no-showed Bayless and Sharpe, it actually makes a ton of sense. It was also the right call from the young Dallas star.

With Prescott out for some time he's become one of the de-facto leaders on the team. Dallas' season is far from over just yet, but especially considering the way the Cowboys look and the fact that Prescott will miss significant time — it makes sense for Parsons and his teammates to hunker down a bit.

It's time to turn inwards and focus on solving the problem rather than just talk about it, and it sounds like that's exactly what Parsons was doing.
