Massive Steelers Hater Bart Scott Rips Mitchell Trubisky
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers are entering a must-win Week 15 game against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday. Mike Tomlin's team has slid to 7-6, but remains in the AFC playoff picture thanks to a crazy couple of weeks in the NFL. Kenny Pickett will miss his second straight contest after undergoing ankle surgery due to an injury he suffered in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals. Pittsburgh's playoff hopes, for now, lie in the hands of backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. He has not exactly inspired faith amongst a fan base that is exhausted with Tomlin and co. playing down to competition.

The Colts are also in the thick of things in the AFC thanks to their own backup signal-caller, Gardner Minshew. He stepped in for rookie Anthony Richardson and has Indianapolis playing well enough to be listed as home favorites against the Steelers on Saturday. After a mini bye week, Pittsburgh will go in with a winning mindset, but postseason chances will plummet with a loss.

Previewing the game on Get Up, a former NFL player who has consistently hated on the Steelers was asked who he thinks is going to prevail in the big-time matchup. Bart Scott seems to have held a grudge since Pittsburgh knocked out his New York Jets back in the 2010 season's playoffs. The Steelers also beat the Baltimore Ravens in several huge games when he played in the AFC North. He continued with his disdain and ripped into Trubisky on Friday morning.

"Mitchell Trubisky. Come on, man. [With him] under center, I think you lose all hope and you know the chances of winning and [finding] their way into a victory is probably going to be short-lived."

He went in a different direction when talking about Minshew. He has all the faith in the world in the Colts' quarterback and said that he trusts him significantly more than Trubisky.

"Garden Minshew is one of the best backups. I know he's not playing great, but I trust him a he** of a lot more than I trust Mitch Trubisky."

It's not surprising to hear the former Raven and Jet throw shade in the direction of the Steelers. He has done so very often since being hired as an analyst by ESPN. Unfortunately, his argument holds some weight here as Trubisky hasn't played well during his time in the Steel City and fans' playoff hopes are dimming as each day goes by.

The Steelers have four games remaining on the schedule and three of them are within the AFC. Two happen to be in the division as well. They are currently slotted as the sixth seed, but a loss on Saturday will more than likely drop them out of the playoff picture. It shouldn't come as a shock if Trubisky struggles early on and Tomlin turns to veteran Mason Rudolph.

It is do or die time for Pittsburgh, and an epic December collapse could lead to Tomlin's 17-year tenure with the Steelers coming to an end. The noise outside of the locker room is louder than it has been in quite some time. An exasperated fan base is tired of the standard being winning seasons. Pittsburgh is known for winning Super Bowls and that expectation has fizzled in recent years.

Tomlin has one more year on his contract and a massive game against the Colts on Saturday is an opportunity to either redeem himself, or force fans to turn against him even more.

Steelers Set To Rely On Trubisky Against Indianapolis

Scott's comments likely won't be heard by Pittsburgh's current starting quarterback. It's not just the Steelers' season on the line, but quite possibly, Trubisky's career as a backup in the NFL. He has been underwhelming since coming to the Steel City and he will have a chance to showcase his abilities on Saturday as the entire country will have their eyes on the lone mid-afternoon game.
