Luke Kuechly joining Panthers' radio broadcast for a few games next season

Luke Kuechly is returning to the Carolina Panthers. But instead of pads and cleats, the retired linebacker will rock a suit and headset as he joins the team's radio broadcast for seven games during the 2022 season.

He will join Anish Shroff, Jordan Gross and former Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme in the booth for seven games.

Kuechly, who is just 31 years old, was drafted ninth overall by the Panthers in the 2012 NFL Draft. He played eight seasons for the team before retiring in order to keep himself healthy. While the Boston College product had a successful professional career, it was also full of injuries and he eventually retired young to prevent himself from getting any more concussions. He spent a year as a scout for the team before making the move to the broadcast side of things.

Despite spending less than a decade in the league, Kuechly is widely regarded for his football smarts and the overall opinion is that he will be a great asset to the broadcast team.

"You just know (Kuechly’s) going to be good at it," Delhomme said, via USA Today. "I look forward to it because he’s so smart."

Kuechly registered 1,092 tackles, 75 tackles for loss, 31 quarterback hits, 12.5 sacks, 18 interceptions and nine fumble recoveries over his career.
