 Los Angeles Rams Sign Quarterback
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams have been dealing with an injury to starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, putting his status in the air for their matchup this week against the Green Bay Packers. Now, it is being reported that the team has signed quarterback Dresser Winn to the team in case Stafford is unable to go this coming week.

Winn signed to the team as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Tennessee at Martin back in May. He played in the Rams’ final preseason game with 3-5 on his pass attempts for 21 yards. When he was in college, Winn went for 2,928 passing yards and 18 touchdowns in 2022. He finished his collegiate career with 5,800 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and 492 completions, ranking him amongst the top five in the school’s history.

Los Angeles Rams Quarterback Issues

Winn was signed to the team’s practice squad and will look to possibly be promoted to the 53-man roster if Stafford’s injury keeps him out of the game this week. Stafford hurt his thumb in last week’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys on a two-point conversion attempt. Head coach Sean McVay gave an update on the quarterback’s status to reporters.

“We’ll see what the significance of that injury is, but I don’t want to speculate until I have full clarification from the doctors. But obviously, he wasn’t able to return. If in fact it is going to be an injury that leaves him out, the first thing he’s worried about is feeling like ‘I’m going to let people down.'”

The Rams are coming off of a blowout loss to the Cowboys last week that has fans and analysts wondering if they are legit playoff contenders. Luckily for Los Angeles, the Packers are struggling to get anything going this season so far, so even if Stafford is not able to play, they should still be able to handle their business.
