Lions Release Bruce Irvin from Practice Squad
USA TODAY Sports

After sitting out much of the 2023 season, former West Virginia star pass rusher Bruce Irvin decided to give it one more go in the NFL and sign with the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, his stint in Detroit was a short-lived as he was released from the team's practice squad on Wednesday.

Irvin appeared in two games for the Lions and recorded two QB hits, one tackle, one sack, and a tackle for loss. As Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported, this was a mutual parting of ways and Irvin will keep his options open when it comes to playing again this season.

The 36-year-old has tallied 344 tackles, 131 QB hits, 70 tackles for loss, 56.5 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, 13 passes defended, three interceptions, and three fumble recoveries for his career.
