Khalil Herbert Limited at Bears Practice with Back Injury

Just when the Bears running game started taking off with Khalil Herbert returning to form, things have hit a snag.

Herbert has a back injury and was limited in Thursday's practice.

Herbert rushed for a season-high 124 yards last week and has gone over 100 yards each of the past two games. No doubt the running game would be a big part of Bears plans on offense as Green Bay ranks 28th at stopping the run.

Earlier this year, Herbert was rolling along and suffered an ankle injury Oct. 5 against Washington. He didn't gain more than 35 yards again until they played Arizona two weeks ago.

CONOR ORR: BEARS SHOULD DRAFT A QB NO. 1 BUT KEEP FIELDS

Roschon Johnson could get more carries if Herbert continues having problems. The Bears do have D'Onta Foreman available but he was held out of last week's game as a healthy inactive.

The other change in injury status for players was tight end Cole Kmet returning to practice on a limited basis despite a knee injury.

The rest of the injury report is cornerback Jaylon Johnson (shoulder), wide receiver Darnell Mooney (concussion) and long snapper Patrick Scales (foot) out of practice, wide receiver DJ Moore (ankle) limited and Marcedes Lewis out of practice for rest. Backup QB Tyson Bagent remains out with an illness.
