Joseph Noteboom Injury Update: Rams Guard To Miss Eagles Game With Groin Injury
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Anxiety wells up in the hearts of Los Angeles Rams fans when offensive linemen start missing games due to injury. Can’t blame them. They were the most injured offensive line since at least 2001. It left them with a battered Matthew Stafford and, well, not much else.

Joe Noteboom Injury News

According to Sean McVay, Joseph Noteboom will be sidelined with a groin injury for Week 5’s game against the Eagles. Noteboom has been banged up with a litany of ailments. Week 2 was an ankle, Week 3 was a shoulder, and Week 4 was a knee. He was able to play through those, but Noteboom will spend time on the mend, for the groin injury, but maybe to fully heal from all those maladies.

The Noteboom injury was presumably suffered in last week’s game against the Colts. Noteboom had been playing at right guard but slid to left tackle because of a hamstring injury that kept Alaric Jackson out of that game. Noteboom may have been feeling the effects of the injury during the Colts game. He allowed three QB hits and a hurry; the most pressures allowed by a Rams offensive lineman.

Kevin Dotson To Fill In At Right Guard

Kevin Dotson will fill in for Noteboom at right guard against the Eagles as he did last week against the Colts. Alaric Jackson will be listed as questionable but is expected to be back at left tackle, barring any setbacks in his recovery. Against the Colts, Dotson gave up a sack, but it was the only pressure he allowed. The Rams running game struggled when running to his side. Of 12 runs that went toward the A and B gaps on the right side, the Rams averaged just 2.58 yards per carry. But they also picked up three of the eight rushing first downs when running into those gaps.

Philly’s Interior Defensive Linemen

Dotson would have faced off against Fletcher Cox for a good amount of the game, but he also has been ruled out. But the Eagles have plenty of young and hungry depth behind him. Rookie first-rounder, Jalen Carter is off to a great start, leading the team in pressures with 20. Behind him are Marlon Tuipulotu* and Milton Williams. In limited snaps, they have created two and six pressures. Tuipulotu had a sack against the Buccaneers and neither has a missed tackle.

*Tuipulotu has been ruled out of this game with a tricep injury

The Rams offensive line has played just well enough to allow Stafford to create plays. He has seen the sixth most pressure but has only taken the 16th most sacks. His time to throw sits at 20th among starting quarterbacks. Just enough for Stafford to do what he does. The Rams have faced some of the best defensive lines in the game so far this season and this will be another tough test. But they just need to be good enough, not great.
