Joe Thomas Officially Enshrined to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns legend Joe Thomas was officially enshrined to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday afternoon. Thomas, who has been the greatest Browns player since the team returned in 1999, anchored the left tackle position for eleven seasons.

He was an eight time All-Pro and named to a record ten consecutive Pro Bowls to start his career. His most notable achievement will always be his NFL record 10,363 consecutive snaps played over his eleven years.

Today's ceremony was very special as thousands of Browns fans descended on Canton, Ohio. With the festivities being held in their own backyard, the celebratory feel of the entire weekend has felt like a home game that you already have the final score, knowing victory would be the outcome.

Thomas played in relative obscurity on consistently losing Browns teams during his career. Today he was the main event as he was chosen to headline this induction class. For Joe, this moment served a chance to recognize those who he credits with making his career possible; his family, former coaches, and teammates were as instrumental to his success as the work that he put in on and off the field.

Thomas was presented by his wife Annie and their four children. Annie said "Joe is methodical, he gives 110% to whatever he does and that's not a cliche with him." "His legacy is that he is consistent, if you need him he will be there."

Surrounded by his entire family near the stage, Joe opened his speech by barking back to the sea of barks that were being chanted toward the main stage. Adorned in his gold jacket with a gold and navy blue tie, he quickly got emotional while by acknowledging his mom and dad for the values and lessons that they instilled in him growing up.

He went on to thank his siblings and friends that he grew up with, employees within the organization, the Haslams and he recognized many of his former coaches along the way, including every Browns head coach that he ever played for from Romeo Crennel to Hue Jackson.

Finally, he recognized the fans by saying "to Browns fans, the most loyal group of fans I know. It was truly an honor to represent you on and off the field." Many Browns fans were visibly emotional and full of pride in a guy they watched grow up from a "regular Joe" to a man who turned out to be pretty extraordinary. His play will certainly be etched in our memories for a long time to come.
