Jason Kelce reportedly in contact with WWE to be involved in WrestleMania 40
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Jason Kelce‘s days of knocking helmets on the gridiron are over. But as they say, when one door closes, another door opens. What’s next for the former Philadelphia Eagles center? Let’s just say, it could very well involve a 20×20 squared circle.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, WWE has reached out to Kelce to be involved in WrestleMania 40 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia this weekend.

WrestleMania, WWE’s biggest annual show, takes place at the Eagles’ home stadium this Saturday and Sunday. Celebrity involvement has always been a mainstay at the show dating back to WrestleMania I at Madison Square Garden in 1985. On that night in New York City, Mr. T teamed with Hulk Hogan against “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff with Muhammad Ali as special guest referee, helping put “The Showcase of the Immortals” on the map. 10 years later, at WrestleMania XI at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut, former New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor defeated Bam Bam Bigelow in the main event.

Now, it appears it could be Kelce’s time to get involved in some way. Other celebrities confirmed to be in attendance this weekend are Philadelphia native Meek Mill and rap icon Lil Wayne.

Jason Kelce steps away from football after 13 seasons

A beloved figure in Phialdephia, Kelce, 36, spent the entirety of his 13-year career with the Eagles. He became a six-time All-Pro selection and seven-time Pro Bowler as a key part of the Philadelphia offensive line and seemed to get better and better with age. Joining the Eagles’ offensive line as a rookie pushing an incumbent starter, Kelce won the job during his first preseason. He went on to become the first rookie in Eagles history to start all 16 games at center. Partial MCL and ACL tears in 2012 knocked him out for most of his second year but he returned to start all 16 games in 2013.

After earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2017, Kelce helped the Eagles clinch a victory in Super Bowl LII, defeating the New England Patriots,41–33. It took several seasons, but he made it back to the Super Bowl with Philadelphia in 2022, a 38-35 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, and his brother Travis Kelce. He toyed with retirement after that loss but opted to return for another chance at the Lombardi Trophy in 2023.

“It has always been a goal of mine to play my whole career in one city,” Kelce said at his retirement speech last month. “I couldn’t have dreamt a better one if I tried.”
