Impressing this season, Cardinals WR Greg Dortch will be a hot commodity in free agency
Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

Gearing up for their final matchup on their schedule against the Seattle Seahawks, there is uncertainty swarming around who will be back on the Arizona Cardinals 2024 roster and others who will have to search of a new home elsewhere next season.

While there are presumed mainstays like tight end Trey McBride, quarterback Kyler Murray and safety Jalen Thompson among others on the offense, there is another key contributor that is out of contract.

WR Greg Dortch has taken full advantage of the opportunities he receives in his third season as a Cardinal.

Starting in three games and playing in 15-of-16 in 2023, he has scored two touchdowns, amassed 22 receptions from 37 targets and collected 266 total yards.

As Arizona’s kick and punt returner alongside his normal role of being a wide receiver, he adapts to any role head coach Jonathan Gannon asks him to be.

Dortch’s speed and maneuverability to get past opposing defenses can turn a single yard reception to 20+.

Even though he did not score a touchdown yesterday, he led all Cardinals in receiving yards with 82 against the Philadelphia Eagles, including a 36-yard reception.

With just one game left, Dortch’s situation is one of many dilemmas that Arizona general manager Monti Ossenfort has to deal with in the offseason.

Will Dortch re-sign in the valley or will another NFL organization give him a fresh start and a bigger payday during free agency?

Teams will be calling, seeing that Dortch can make an impact whenever on the field.

Uncertainty around whether Marquise Brown returns or not will give a clearer picture of what will happen with Dortch. Brown’s contract also expires come seasons end.

Overall, Dortch has suited up for 36 games, caught 77 passes for 748 yards and stacked up four touchdowns.
