The New York Giants have waived veteran quarterback Matt Barkley from the 53-man roster and released quarterback Jacob Eason from the practice squad.
The moves clear the way for the addition of veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor, whose 21-day window was activated on Monday after he was designated for return from IR after suffering a rib cage injury in the Giants' Week 8 overtime loss to the Jets.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who last spoke to the media before the bye, did not name a starting quarterback for the team's Week 14 game against the Green Bay Packers,
The assumption is that the Giants will look to re-sign Barkley to the practice squad once he clears waivers, and Taylor will be added to the 53-man roster.
Taylor has appeared in 10 games with three starts in his two years as a Giant and has completed 63 of 95 pass attempts (66.3 percent) for 637 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
