Giants safety Logan Ryan: HC Joe Judge 'is a passionate guy'

The New York Giants continue to create headlines for reasons other than winning or righting the figurative ship. One could argue the Giants have been the NFL's worst team during a five-game losing streak that saw them fall to 4-12, and head coach Joe Judge received widespread criticism from local and national analysts for a lengthy and emotional defense of his club he offered following last Sunday's loss at the Chicago Bears.

Running back Saquon Barkley assured reporters Thursday Judge has Big Blue "going in the right direction," and safety Logan Ryan seemed to offer his support for the coach later in the afternoon.

"We haven't been winning in New York, and that is just a big spotlight and it's a tough place when you're not winning because of the passion and the amount of support we have for this organization," Ryan explained, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN. "I just think Joe is a passionate guy. I think he's an honest guy and truthful guy, and I think that was some of that coming out right here [in the passionate answer on Sunday]."

Meanwhile, Giants defensive coordinator Patrick Graham said he trusts Judge's "vision" for the team's future.

Per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Judge insisted on Thursday he intends to get to work on offseason activities "first thing Monday morning" following Sunday's season finale against the Washington Football Team. Reports surfaced last month that Judge's job was "safe" despite what is now his overall record of 10-22 as Giants head coach, but some can't help but wonder if ownership will go in a different direction if only to placate an understandably unhappy fan base.
