First-year New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen turned some heads on Tuesday when he said that the organization was open to trade discussions for any player , including former second overall pick Saquon Barkley. There were rumors on Thursday though that the interest in the 2018 Pro Bowler and Offensive Rookie of the Year was lukewarm.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport seemed to echo those sentiments on Friday but said that there is a New York player on the defensive side of the ball who could generate some offers.
From NFL Now: While the #Giants aren't expected to trade Saquon Barkley, CB James Bradberry could be had in a trade. Teams are expected to inquire about the former big ticket FA, who is in the last year of his deal. pic.twitter.com/EoRXfLWwyy

ESPN NFL Nation reporter Jordan Raanan also had an update on the Barkley situation.
Also on the Saquon Barkley trade front, league sources have said it doesn’t appear to be at the top of the Giants list to get financially healthy. An option but perhaps not a strong one at this point given the return. https://t.co/KumRE10142

Barkley's NFL career has been in a downward spiral since his sensational rookie campaign, primarily due to injuries. The former Penn State back dropped to a still strong 1,441 yards from scrimmage and eight total touchdowns in 2019, despite missing three games.
Barkley played in only two contests in 2020 after suffering a torn ACL early in the season and struggled to the tune of 593 rushing yards and two scores in 13 games in 2021 behind a much-maligned Giants offensive line.
Bradberry meanwhile just finished his sixth NFL season and second with New York. The 28-year-old was a Pro Bowler in 2020 and posted a career-high four interceptions in 2021.
