Falcons Meeting Free Agent DB Siran Neal

The Atlanta Falcons have only addressed their offense thus far in free agency - but may be on the verge of breaking that spell.

According to NFL Network , the Falcons are scheduled to meet with former Buffalo Bills safety Siran Neal on Wednesday night.

Neal visited the New York Giants on Monday and is slated to spend time with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday before heading to Atlanta.

Neal, who turns 30 in August, was selected by the Bills in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and has spent each of his six professional campaigns in Buffalo.

The Dothan, Alabama, native signed a three-year extension with the Bills in February 2022 but was released on March 6, 2024, in a move that freed $3 million in cap space.

Neal, who started his college career at LSU before graduating from Jacksonville State University, has largely served as a special teams piece for the Bills.

He's played in 97 professional games but drawn only one defensive start, coming in 2019. He's never played more than 20 percent of Buffalo's defensive snaps in a season.

This past year, Neal was on the field for just 45 total defensive snaps, or 4 percent of the team's total. He's played 108 snaps on defense in the past two years.

Conversely, Neal played 80 percent of the Bills' special teams snaps in 2023 and 77 percent in 2022. He's been above 60 percent in each of the past five seasons.

For his career, Neal has registered 115 tackles, five passes defensed, four tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and a trio of quarterback hits.

Neal was a gunner on Buffalo's special teams core, a position at which the Falcons have a vacancy, as neither Mack Hollins nor Khadarel Hodge, who filled the role last year, are currently under contract.
