Ex-Bear Believes Receiver Must Be Cut Following TD Fail vs Chargers
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers Week 9 matchup could go a long way in their playoff hopes as they are set to take on the New York Jets on the road. This is not hyperbole; this matchup could have significant playoff implications when it's all said and done.

However, before we move on to that game, let's revisit LA's Week 8 win against the Chicago Bears. LA easily handled Chicago in a 30-13 win; however, the score could've been a lot different, at least on the Bears side.

In the second quarter, with five minutes left, the Bears were threatening as they had the ball on the 40-yard line of the Bolts. Bears QB Tyson Bagent threw a dart to a wide-open Velus Jones; however, he could not secure the ball, as he tripped and made his best attempt for the ball. Here's how it went.

In the grand scheme of things, who knows how the game would've gone if Jones caught the ball.

Nonetheless, former Pro Bowl linebacker for the Bears, Alex Jones, took things a step further and called for the team to cut wide receiver Velus Jones.

Those are pretty harsh words from the former Pro Bowler. Jones hasn't been the best for the Bears, only collecting three receptions for nine yards.

Maybe Brown has a point, but of course, that's not up to him. We don't know if that catch would've made things interesting or if the Bears would've lost by ten instead of 17.

Who knows?
