Early look: Super Bowl LVI betting odds and trends

We have two weeks until Super Bowl LVI, which kicks off Sunday, Feb. 13, at 6:30 p.m. ET. It will be the Cincinnati Bengals vs the Los Angeles Rams, with the Rams playing in their home stadium in L.A.

While we wait for the game, it's never too early to get a gauge on the betting odds and trends.

Super Bowl LVI Betting Odds

Odds courtesy of DraftKings as of February 1
Spread: Rams -4.5 (-110) Money line: Rams -190 | Bengals +160 Total: 48.5 points (-110)

It will be Los Angeles that is favored in this one. Early spreads shortly after Sunday's action wrapped up had the Rams as four-point favorites, so we may continue seeing some fluctuation around that number in the lead up to Super Bowl Sunday.

In the Conference Championship, the Rams closed as 3.5-point favorites, a spread they failed to cover against the 49ers. Meanwhile, as underdogs, Cincinnati of course covered the spread, which closed at Chiefs -7.

Betting Trends

While home and away betting trend splits don't typically matter in the Super Bowl, it is worth noting that the Rams are playing in their home stadium, the second team to ever do so in the Super Bowl era (last year's Buccaneers were the first).

Despite this, the Super Bowl does remain a neutral site, and with the sea of San Francisco red for the NFC Championship Game, it feels like a safe assumption to say there shouldn't be much concern of a home-field advantage.

Let's look at how both teams have performed against the most popular bets: against the spread (ATS), money lines, and over/unders.

Los Angeles Rams Trends

Record: 15-5 ATS: 10-10 Over/unders: 10-9-1

ATS as Favorite: 7-10 Over/unders as Favorite: 7-9-1

Cincinnati Bengals Trends

Record: 13-7 ATS: 13-7 Over/unders: 8-12

ATS as Underdog: 8-3 Over/unders as Underdog: 3-8

Early comparisons of betting trends skew in favor of the Bengals against the spread, though these trends are not predictive and more a factor to be considering.

The under seems to have some momentum, based on both team's lackluster records against the over as a favorite/underdog.
