Eagles Reveal 1st Wave of Practice Squad
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The punter plan sort of came into focus when the Philadelphia Eagles released the names of 13 of the 16 practice squad players they added on Wednesday, and Arryn Siposs was one of them.

It will depend, of course, on how the expected tryouts go for another punter, but as of now, it seems like Siposs will be the punter when the season begins on Sept. 10 in New England against the Patriots.

Siposs was one of the Eagles’ final cuts made on Tuesday.

The team can elevate two players from the practice squad for each game and each player is allowed to be elevated three times. That means the Eagles won’t have to decide whether to keep Siposs or go another direction until Week 4 when the Washington Commanders pay a visit to Lincoln Financial Field on Oct. 1.

Call it a three-game audition.

Just as the punter plan came into focus, albeit perhaps a still-fuzzy one, so did the punt-return plan.

As expected, the Eagles brought back last year’s punt returner, Britain Covey, to the practice squad.

Siposs and Covey could be the two practice squad elevations in New England, unless they think receiver Olamide Zaccheaus or safety Justin Evans can handle that duty and elevate someone else. Or a punter wows the brass in a tryout.

Zaccheaus and Evans got some work as punt returners during the preseason.

In addition to Siposs and Covey, the Eagles announced 11 other members of their practice squad. They are allowed to have 16.

Here are the 13:

P Siposs

WR Covey

WR Devon Allen

WR Greg Ward

WR Joseph Ngata

OL Julian Good-Jones

OL Brett Toth

TE Brady Russell

DE Tarron Jackson

LB Ben VanSumeren

LB Kyron Johnson

CB Mekhi Garner

S Tristin McCollum
