Eagles Ex Says Road Playoff Game is 'Best Thing That Could Have Happened'
Bill Streicher, USA TODAY Sports

Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long believes that playing on the road during the playoffs could be a blessing in disguise for the struggling Eagles.

“I think the best thing that could’ve happened to them is going on the road and playing the Bucs," Long said via Green Light. "Because I think if this team played at home, they’d piss down their legs because of the pressure. The minute they get booed, the minute they go three and out. I'm not saying they can beat the Bucs cause I don't know, but I can't get it out of my head when they played them the first time, they ran the ball to finish the game for like eight minutes. That's your shot.”

Philadelphia finished the 2023 regular season with a 6-2 record at Lincoln Financial Field and a 5-4 record on the road. One of those road wins came in Week 3 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.

The Eagles won that game 25-11 behind a balanced offensive performance and a dominant defensive showing, which seems like a distant memory compared to the product they have put on the field over the final six weeks of the season. Philadelphia rushed for 201 yards and picked up 27 first downs in the game while holding the Buccaneers to just 41 yards on the ground and 174 total yards.

Now, the Eagles will be heading back to Tampa Bay to face the Buccaneers in a Wild Card game with a trip to the Divisional Round on the line.

It will be the final game of the NFL's Wild Card Weekend and will kick off at 8:15 p.m. on Monday Night Football.
