Dolphins trade Isaiah Ford to the Patriots

The Dolphins are trading wide receiver Isaiah Ford to the New England Patriots in exchange for their seventh-round pick.

Ford had been playing a solid amount for the Dolphins, racking up 18 catches and 184 receiving yards while playing over half of the team's snaps this season. Ford himself was a seventh-round pick in the 2017 draft.

The Patriots were in desperate need of a receiver, with Julian Edelman getting knee surgery that is expected to keep him out for several weeks. N'Keal Harry has also missed time due to injury. The receiving talent on the roster drops significantly after those two, making the Patriots' pass offense among the worst in the league.

The Patriots have added talent, now the question is if the Patriots will be giving any talent away. The team is reportedly willing to listen to offers for "almost anyone" on their roster, including cornerback Stephon Gilmore. But according to ESPN's Dianna Russini, there's a pretty hefty price tag on Gilmore

"After speaking with a few GMs around the NFL, I've learned multiple teams who have called the Patriots about CB Stephon Gilmore were told by New England they want a first-round pick and a player in exchange for the 2019 AP Defensive Player of the Year," Russini tweeted this morning.

At 2-4, the Patriots sit behind the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins in the AFC East, and unless they are able to make some serious adjustments, they seem destined to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
