Dolphins add DT Christian Wilkins, LB Kyle Van Noy to reserve/COVID-19 list

The Miami Dolphins could be without two defensive starters for Sunday's showdown with the Los Angeles Chargers.

As Cameron Wolfe noted for ESPN, Miami placed defensive tackle Christian Wilkins and linebacker Kyle Van Noy on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Practice squad wide receiver Matt Cole was also added.

If Wilkins and Van Noy went onto the list because of what's deemed to be a "false positive" test result or due to contact tracing, they could be cleared to play against the Chargers as long as they test negative and report no symptoms typical of coronavirus infections.

However, they will have to isolate for a minimum of five days if they're classified as "high-risk close contacts." One Miami assistant coach tested positive last Friday.

Kansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones spent one day on the reserve/COVID-19 list last week but was ultimately permitted to play against the Carolina Panthers. He tallied a sack in his team's winning effort.

Wilkins has recorded 28 total tackles and one sack in eight games this season. Van Noy is tied for third on the Dolphins with two sacks, tied for second with a pair of forced fumbles and leads the team with two fumble recoveries.

In a corresponding move, Miami activated wide receiver Lynn Bowden Jr. off the reserve/COVID-19 list.
