Detroit Lions Part Ways With Chase Lucas

The Detroit Lions continue to make decisions regarding their current roster ahead of the start of free agency on March 13.

The organization will not tender a contract to exclusive rights free agent Chase Lucas, according to reports. As a result, Lucas will become a free agent.

Lucas was a seventh-round pick by Brad Holmes and the Lions in 2022 out of Arizona State. In his two professional seasons, he has been on and off of the team's active roster.

He made the team in his rookie season and totaled three tackles. In 2023, he was waived during training camp but signed back on the practice squad. Lucas eventually was bumped up to the active roster in September when two players were sent to injured reserve, then waived again in December.

During the postseason, he was signed to the active roster once more when the Lions placed cornerback Jerry Jacobs on injured reserve.

Lucas played in 12 regular season games in 2023, contributing mostly on special teams.

Detroit has made several decisions on its cornerback room in recent days, signing Emmanuel Moseley back on a one-year deal while not tendering contracts to Lucas, Khalil Dorsey and Jerry Jacobs.
