The Detroit Lions announced several roster cuts on Sunday afternoon, including waiving wide receiver Trinity Benson.
Among the first wave of cuts was a player the team had hopes could be a developmental player at the wide receiver position.
Unfortunately, Benson battled injuries and could not overcome the emerging young wideouts on the roster.
“I really don’t spend too much time thinking about it,” Benson expressed, when asked about the upcoming roster decisions, via Mlive. “I just try to control what I can control and then at the end of the day they’re going to do what they feel is best for the team and I hope they see what I can bring to the team and I fit the scheme that we have going.”
Back in 2021, Brad Holmes sent the Denver Broncos their 2022 fifth-round pick, along with a 2022 seventh-round pick in exchange for the young wideout Denver’s 2023 sixth-round pick.
Announced roster moves
DT Christian Covington, OL Bobby Hart, OL Germain Ifedi, WR Jason Moore, RB Devine Ozigbo were released.
