David Culley: 'As far as I know, I'm the head coach of the Texans'

Several NFL teams opened coaching vacancies Monday, but the Houston Texans weren't one of them. David Culley is still the team's head coach and, as far as he's aware, it's going to stay that way.

"As far as I know I'm the head coach of the Texans moving forward," Culley said in a Monday press conference, via Aaron Wilson of SportsTalk 790. "The exit interviews went well. I met with everybody. We just talked about the season and what we expect in the offseason."

However, Culley said he hasn't met with general manager Nick Caserio or owner Cal McNair yet. 

Culley, 66, was hired by the Texans in January after spending the two seasons prior as the Baltimore Ravens' assistant head coach, wide receivers coach, and passing coordinator. Culley also previously spent time as a position coach with the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Texans finished his first season at the helm with a 4-13, although hopes for the team weren't high. The roster was stripped down and no longer had stars like DeAndre Hopkins and J.J. Watt. Quarterback Deshaun Watson was absent all season while dealing with legal issues.
