NFL fans criticized former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick for turning down an opportunity to play quarterback at the professional level again.

Kaepernick has not been signed to an NFL roster since he entered free agency during the 2017 offseason. Kaepernick made controversial statements during his time with the 49ers, making it less likely that owners would want to take a risk on the quarterback who led the 49ers to an NFC championship.

Kaepernick accused the NFL of collusion to keep him out of the league. He reached a confidential settlement with the NFL. But Kaepernick has tried to fight for a spot on a roster since the 2017 offseason.

Kaepernick recently wrote a letter to the New York Jets asking the team to take a chance on him with a practice squad spot. The Jets had backup quarterback issues after losing their starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, for the season with an Achilles injury.

Per a screenshot posted on Twitter by Dov Kleiman, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) made a statement that he met and offered Kaepernick and his agents an opportunity to join the XFL. Johnson is a co-owner of the XFL. Johnson doesn’t think Kaepernick will take the offer.

Kaepernick has so far turned down the offer to play in the XFL. As Kleiman says, the XFL pays much less than the NFL.
