Chicago Bears Yannick Ngakoue: 'It Was Meant For Me To Be Here'
Robert Scheer/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Chicago Bears bolstered their defensive line by signing Yannick Ngakoue to a one-year deal. The talented pass rusher has bounced around the league but every stop has been able to get to the quarterback. In a recent interview, Ngakoue talked about how he feels like he was destined to be a part of the Bears organization.

Chicago Bears Yannick Ngakoue Loves His New Team

Ngakoue talked to the team’s website and had this to say about his new team.

“I feel like it was meant for me to be here. I actually have a bear tatted on my hand. I feel like that was a sign to me that I was always meant to be a Chicago Bear. I just wanted to go somewhere I feel like I fit in, and I feel like I fit in here. It’s a great culture, great history. It’s a great place to play football.”

The Bears are happy he is here. Last season, the team had a league-low 20 sacks defensive back Jaquan Brisker leading the team with four. The team is hoping that Ngakoue can help this issue by getting after the quarterback.

How Did He Fall To Chicago?

The knock on Ngakoue is his ability to play the run. He has played for the Jaguars, Vikings, Ravens, Colts, and Raiders, and at each stop, he recorded at least eight sacks. That is really good production. It also shows how abysmal he is in the running game. Teams would rather take a less talented pass rusher who has a greater skill at run-stopping. The Bears are hoping that they can put Ngakoue in situations where he can pin his ears back and rush the passer and not worry about the run.

The Chicago Bears should be happy about getting Yannick Ngakoue despite the concerns. The team desperately needed some juice on the pass rush and Ngakoue provides just that.
