Buccaneers TE Rob Gronkowski sheds light on his relationship with Bill Belichick

During Super Bowl week, former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski said he hadn't spoken to Bill Belichick since he was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 

Appearing on ESPN Radio this week, Gronkowski said that is still the case and shed some more light on his relationship with Belichick. 

"It's always been a great relationship actually, and I'm super blessed just to have the nine years that I had there, big time," Gronkowski said, via 247 Sports. "I learned so much throughout my time there. But I would say the relationship's fine. I mean, I really haven't talked to (Belichick) at all since I've been traded to the Tampa Bay Bucs, but if I see him, you know, in the streets, if I see him out at an event, a football event, wherever it is, a charity event, I have absolutely no problem with him.

"I feel like we would just, you know, kick it off like we normally would, any event, you know, talk some football real quick, because you know he's got to always talk football, and just catch up quick. But I feel like there'll be no problems at all and we'll just kick it off like how we normally do."

Gronkowski spent nine years in New England, recording over 7,800 receiving yards and winning three Super Bowls. He retired after the 2018 campaign but decided to return to the field after being recruited to the Buccaneers by Tom Brady. 

The 31-year-old caught 45 passes for 623 yards and seven touchdowns during the regular season. In the playoffs, he grabbed eight passes for 110 yards and two scores. The two touchdowns came in the Super Bowl. 

Gronkowski's career in New England is well behind him and he's looking forward to competing for another Super Bowl in Tampa Bay this coming season.
