Buccaneers Bowles on 2024 Team, 'Got To Get Better At Everything'
Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports

Following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-23 Divisional Round loss to the Detroit Lions head coach Todd Bowles spoke with the media who asked him what improvements does he want to see in 2024. The answer was basically “everything”.

“We’ve got to get better at everything.” Bowles stated. “Coaching-wise, you want to get better at situational football all the way around. Defensively, I know for sure third downs we’ve got to get better at. We used to be good in two-minute [situations] – we gave up some two-minute plays. We could look back and point at a myriad of things. We’d like to get the running game even better than it was – it got better, but we could get it better. We’d like to have a better return game on special teams. There’s a lot of things we can get better at from a coaching standpoint. There are a lot of things to get better at from a teaching standpoint and from a playing standpoint. That’s just coaching. That’s constant football for us.”

Considering the team is back looking for an offensive coordinator with the departure of Dave Canales, there’s a lot of work to be done.

If we’re going with the notion of the Buccaneers re-signing quarterback Baker Mayfield, then they’re looking at a quarterback who’s had eight offensive coordinator in seven years. Couple that with the rest of the offensive players learning another new system, “work” might be an understatement. Let alone “get better” at it.
