Broncos reportedly could make 'substantial offer' for Aaron Rodgers after 2021 season

Despite trading a sixth-round pick for Teddy Bridgewater this offseason, it appears the Denver Broncos still have their sights on bigger fish entering the 2021 campaign. 

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Broncos are interested in trading for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and could make a "substantial offer" for the reigning MVP after the 2021 season. 

"Things are good now with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, going along fine," Rapoport said on 'NFL GameDay Morning' on Sunday. "However, in this new contract that he negotiated to get back to training camp, they did agree to look at trade options after the season. I'm told that the Denver Broncos, who would have been interested this past offseason, remain interested and could try to trade for Rodgers and make a substantial offer after this season. They have not yet committed to a long-term quarterback."

The Broncos were interested in trading for Rodgers before the 2021 season, but the veteran reworked his contract with the Packers and agreed to remain with the franchise this year. 

The Broncos named Bridgewater their starter this year, with Drew Lock being second on the depth chart. However, neither signal-caller appears to be the team's solution at quarterback, and Rodgers would give Denver its best chance at winning another Super Bowl. 

Rodgers opened up about his tumultuous offseason in a recent interview with Erin Andrews of Fox Sports, telling her he did consider playing elsewhere this season and "100%" considered retiring. The 37-year-old is referring to the 2021 season as his "Last Dance" in Green Bay, so a move to Denver isn't entirely out of the question.
