Broncos Add Former Packers S Dallin Leavitt to Practice Squad

The Denver Broncos are bringing fresh blood to the defensive back room, signing veteran safety Dallin Leavitt to the practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.

Leavitt's addition is a corresponding roster move after Denver on Monday released outside linebacker Marcus Haynes from the practice squad.

A sixth-year pro with 69 games of NFL experience, Leavitt spent the last two seasons with the Green Bay Packers, who released him on Nov. 20. Prior to his stint in Title Town, he played his first three years with the then-Oakland, now-Las Vegas Raiders, joining the club as a 2018 undrafted free agent via Utah State.

Altogether, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound defender has totaled 71 combined tackles (35 solo), four pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries across 1,717 career snaps, the majority of which came on special-teams units.

“I’m the dude nobody talks about, nobody sees, nobody cares about,” Leavitt said in 2019, via the Daily Democrat. “Then you turn on the film and it’s, 'Who’s that?'"

Leavitt is the second safety to be stashed on Denver's taxi squad, joining fellow ex-UDFA Devon Key, and will help provide insurance for the remainder of starter Kareem Jackson's suspension.

The Broncos are carrying four safeties on their active roster: Justin Simmons, PJ Locke, Delarrin Turner-Yell, and JL Skinner.
