Bills' Rasul Douglas earns well-deserved honor after Patriots win
Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

Brandon Beane's decision back in October has turned out to be an incredible addition to the team.

The Buffalo Bills traded for cornerback Rasul Douglas from the Green Bay Packers just before the trade deadline. And his recent performance has proved that it was the right choice.

After a dominant performance against the New England Patriots on Sunday, Douglas was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

In the Bills 27-21 win over the Patriots on Sunday, Douglas finished with three pass breakups, two interceptions. And on one of those he returned it for a touchdown.

Since joining the Bills, he has 29 total tackles, with one sack two fumble recoveries, four interceptions, and one touchdown.

And with those four interceptions, he is tied for the second-most in the NFL since Week 9 alongside Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland and Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson. Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley is ahead of them with five interceptions.

He will be crucial in the Bills potential playoff run, but first Douglas and Buffalo will have to get past the Miami Dolphins. And there is the AFC Division Title on the line in the regular season finale.

Douglas first began his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, being drafted in the third round of the 2017 NL Draft. In 2020, he was waived as part of final roster cuts and was claimed by the Carolina Panthers.

Following that season, he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, but was released in August and joined the Houston Texans two days later. That stint lasted only six days, and he was signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in September.

Just under a month later, the Packers signed him off the Cardinals practice squad and he remained with them up until his trade to the Bills.
