Bengals Fear Joseph Ossai May Have Suffered a Broken Wrist

Joseph Ossai was arguably the best player on the field on Saturday night. 

The Bengals rookie finished with three tackles, one sack and two quarterback hits. Unfortunately, he suffered a right wrist injury in the third quarter and didn't return to the game. 

Dave Lapham gave an update on Ossai's status during his latest podcast. 

^{"It seems like he's got a fractured wrist, a broken wrist," Lapham said. "He had a cast on as he was boarding the plane after the game last night. He's gonna get further tests, MRI's and that sorta thing done, but if it does reveal that he's got a broken bone, a fracture of some sort, I would think in these instances they'd perform surgery to help expedite the healing process and maybe with surgery like that he could make the opener. That's very, very feasible. Of course he'd have a cast on... Unfortunately injuries like that happen and Joseph Ossai is dealing with a little adversity."} 

Hopefully we'll get an official update on Ossai's status on Monday. The good news is the rookie showed why he was expected to be a top-40 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on Saturday night. Ultimately, the Bengals took him with the 69th overall selection. 

This injury may slow him down a bit, but Ossai could have a bright future after a successful debut against the Buccaneers.
