Former veteran NFL cornerback Bashaud Breeland is facing multiple criminal charges after he was caught in possession of a stolen car, a stolen firearm and illegal drugs. Kansas City news site KCTV reported the news of Breeland’s charges on Wednesday afternoon with the following report:

“A former Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs is facing several charges after he was found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle and firearms, as well as illegal drugs earlier this week. Bashaud Breeland, a cornerback who has played eight seasons in the NFL, was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail early Tuesday, records revealed.”

KCTV noted that records indicated Breeland faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a stolen motor vehicle
  • Altering serial numbers
  • Altering a title
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance
  • Possession of a stolen firearm

KCTV then added the following details from the police report on what was recovered from Breeland.

“A police report associated with his arrest revealed he was in possession of a stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV, multiple guns, including two AR-15s and two AK-47s. Police seized the vehicle and weapons along with more than five pounds of marijuana, 62 grams of suspected mushrooms and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop along North Graham Street on Monday afternoon.”

Not a good look for the former CB at all.

Breeland’s also been out of the NFL since late in the 2021-22 season, when he was cut from the Vikings extremely late into the year after his behavior got out of hand at a practice. Breeland reportedly “got into a verbal altercation at practice with coaches, took off his cleats and got into it with multiple teammates who were trying to calm the situation.”

He landed on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad shortly after to help them out during their playoff run that season. However, Breeland was unable to find a new home at all for the 2022 season and doesn’t appear to be on any teams’ radars for the 2023 season either. Now, that certainly will not be the case as his NFL career can likely be considered finished, if it wasn’t already.
