Rodgers experiencing flashbacks to his first year as starter
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

On Sunday against the Detroit Lions, the Green Bay Packers lost their fifth straight game for the second time in the Aaron Rodgers era. The first time this happened was all the way back in 2008, Rodgers’ first year as Green Bay’s starting quarterback. Even when he was out with a broken collarbone in 2013 and 2017, the Packers didn’t lose five straight games. However, in that 2013 season, they had a stretch of five games where they had four losses and one tie.

Aaron Rodgers’ History Of Rough Patches

There were two other seasons where the Packers nearly lost five games in a row with Rodgers at the helm. In 2016, they had a stretch where they lost four in a row. During that season, they ended up losing in the NFC Championship Game to the Atlanta Falcons. The other occasion was in 2018, where the Packers lost five games in six weeks, finishing the season 6-9-1.

This raises the question if there could be some sort of symmetry going on between Rodgers’ first season as a starter and possibly his last season. Fans seem to be torn on Rodgers’ future as a Packer. Some are sticking with him, while others are starting to look toward the future.

The road for Rodgers and the Packers is not going to get any easier with their upcoming schedule. Their next three games are against the Cowboys, Titans and Eagles, who have a combined record of 19-5.
